Everyday we are confronted by untold home business opportunities. Everyday, there are people searching for the right business that will bring them riches beyond their amazement. For starters, stop and thing carefully before jumping on board the next greatest looking business. You could be wasting your valuable time and money. First rule is do not believe or listen to anyone claiming success right away. Like any business, it takes time and in most cases, takes years to develop a good income. And yes you have to sell something in order to make money. One of the easiest home based businesses to start up is to turn your hobby into a business.

I do not remember what I was searching for but suddenly I was looking at the web site of a self taught Indian Artist who lived some where in a small village in northern British Columbia. This person had taken pictures of his paintings and put them on his website. Each were numbered, had a little description of the painting, a few words about the artist, the price and an order form attached. I was very impressed and never forgot it. Here was a person who had a hobby and turned it into a successful home business. That is one of the keys to having success is finding something that you are passionate about. The worst thing you could do is go into a business that you hate. When you are passionate about something, you will have more of a reason to do it.

Here’s a little trivia about one of my family members. My brother in law who is an amateur musician addicted to yard/garage sales and flea Markets. Every Saturday morning he would be up at the crack of dawn, eat a quick breakfast and then be off in search of the day’s garage sale in the local area. He brought everything and filled his house with good junk (his wife’s words).The next day he would be at the local flea market selling the junk that he picked up the day before.

As time went on, he started to notice that the musical instruments did not last very long on his table especially at the start of the school year. He gradually started concentrating on musical instruments. Gradually he became known as the man who always had good musical instruments for sale. He moved his business into his home, started renting and selling musical instruments to school children and started giving music classes. Then e bay arrived and he started selling musical instruments there. His business is growing. He will never become a millionaire but is earning a nice second income from his hobby that he turned into a home based business.

So before you go out and spend a lot of money up front on any Home Based Business, take a look at what skills or expertise you have that may fill a need for other people. A home based business opportunity may be waiting there to be discovered. Be patient and you must be willing to do the work. There simply are no free rides in life. Give yourself time, patience and a dedication to doing something everyday to move your business forward.

A Roadmap to Success Home Based Business by Darrell Lischka

Part 1

Have you ever wanted to start a home based business? Do you know how to develop a passive residual income or start a home business? Why do you want a home based business? These are important questions you must ponder and give some thought to. How do I get started or where do I go to learn about all this stuff? If you are reading this, I hope its because you wish to build a peaceful residual income and take control of your life.

From all that I have learned, read and observed over the past 10 years in the network marketing profession, successful people have 3 common traits that they have to build a solid passive residual income.

Those 3 elements are:

(1) A big Why
(2) Heart
(3) Being Coachable

Without those 3 elements as a foundation, everything else doesnt matter in my opinion. You see – those 3 critical traits sets the stage for building a successful home based business and going through the ups and downs of creating a residual income. One must seriously consider their Why because it will require they invest 10-15 hours a week over the next 3 to 5 years minimum if they want a solid home business. If its only for the money, they will not last because money at some point in the future will not be the driving force to building a passive residual income. Your why is your core desire about why you want to invest so much time in a home based business and what is it that you truly want out of life. For example, it could be to have your significant other home with the kids on a full time basis. It could be to have a better quality of life for your family, taking an extra vacation, purchasing a new vehicle or all of the above.

In other words, is your why big enough to push you through those challenging times when your business is not going so well or its late at night and your tired in need of some sleep. Successful people have a big why and are willing to forgo some sleep, invest some extra time away from the family to get the business going. By the way, to have a successful home based business and develop a residual income, you will sacrifice some time with your family. Its simply not possible to work full time, develop a home business and devote the same time to your family. Im not suggesting this will last forever, but your why needs to be important enough that you understand the reason you are doing this home based business. Its because you want a better quality of life.

The second element is you need to truly care about helping others succeed and having a heart. Help enough people get what they want and you will in time achieve your level of success in a home based business. If you are only in this for yourself, good luck. Over the years I have seen many people fail in our business who didnt fully understand the truth in that line. They felt they didnt need the Personal Growth material, all they needed were the mechanics, and the Nuts & Bolts, scripts etc and they would just do it. With a touch of arrogance perhaps they just felt they knew all about that stuff and were above taking the time to learn how to become more every day.

Leaders are readers and understand that nobody is ever finished that journey. That one major quality of all real leaders is that they constantly are working upon themselves to be better and more each day. Remember, this is a people business and you need to invest time in people and develop a relationship over the long term to create a truly successful home based business and have a solid residual income in network marketing.

The third element and perhaps one of the most important is how coachable are you. Our business is a People Business. We are in the business of attracting quality people and helping them enhance their lives by enhancing the lives of others. If you are the type of person that knows it all, good luck again. It doesnt hurt you to let someone else help you be successful in your home based business. I learned this from a very good friend and my coach Cameron Howard. We used to butt heads a lot many years ago and still do some days, but I can truly say without hesitation that I have learned so much from him and am very thankful that he invested time with me. A good coach and mentor will be your roadmap, invest time in you and help you become successful to the best of their abilities.

We must be coachable to attract other people that are also coachable. As we grow into a stronger position of leadership, we develop the skills to coach the coaches to coach the coachable. Everybody is always a Leader-In-Training and remains so.

So, are you coachable? Take a moment and look at the results in your life to date and ponder where you may have been more trainable and thus more successful. Perhaps you have read all those books and feel you know better. If you attract others just like yourself, and you will are they going to succeed with their present attitudes and philosophies? Experience has proven to us that only those that are truly coachable grow into positions of leadership. All leaders are fully aware that they must first be followers and remain open minded to learning more always. Does that describe you?

A good coach and mentor, is about being a friend and creating a relationship, realizing it just takes time. Respect is earned. If we do not invest time in people we will not be successful, thus we will not be able to develop a solid residual income or have a successful and long lasting home based business. The secret is to develop the skill to know who best to invest our time with. People are an intangible thing. It takes time to truly get to know another person and even at that we only know most people somewhat. To further complicate matters, there is no way to know beforehand just who is going to be successful. There is no way to truly be sure if a persons desire to BE Free is so strong that they will go through the obstacles on the path to success. Many people enter our home business with a ton of people handling skills, leadership experience, family needs etc, in short, all that one would think they need to be tremendously successful and they never do a thing. Others, with little experience etc just go out and do it because they want it so bad they will pay the price to learn the skills necessary to succeed.

There is no proven way to measure the Right Stuff of a person until they are actually in the field doing it. There are leading indicators that suggest the potential is there however. These take time to ascertain and become aware of. It cant be done effectively and consistently in a 5 or 10 minute conversation. It just takes time to get to know people and for them to get to know us. If you want a solid home based business and a solid residual income, realize you need to invest time in people, develop respect for each other and be a friend.

All of the skills needed to build a peaceful residual income are learnable. Every single person reading this document can BE another success story and have a solid home based business. Everybody!

Over the years there have been many events or forces that have tried to inhibit

do not work. Political parties, Governments and Sovereign nations with specific
agendas begin to voice their opinions stating that a “planned economy” or
“distribution of wealth” is a far better way to go. In the current economic climate,

determine what is best for all. This is not a thriving environment for the Entrepreneur.
We have been here before, but as always, the necessity for man to be free and pursue
our inalienable rights to individuality, free thinkers and the mavericks have persevered.

Thursday October 24, 1929 the crash of the US stock market, Black Tuesday ushered in
a worldwide depression. Funny how history repeats itself.

FDR entered his term of presidency in 1933 with no ideology on dealing with the depression.
The New Deal ushered in the age of social reform which meant bigger government. These
social programs were meant to be only temporary but most have remained a part of our
government programs that we sustain to this day. Created to help those in desperate need
at a time when unemployment jumped from 4% to 25% assistance and an out cry from the
people required action. Government moved in. Franklin Roosevelt ordered the confiscation
of most gold from private citizens. They were to turn in their holdings in exchange for paper
currency. Officials explained their currency would be backed by gold in Fort Knox, so people
complied. Normally there would be an outcry from the freedom loving Americans for such
an executive order to be passed, but these were not the ordinary course of events. Panic,
insecurity and fear ruled the day, runs on banks forced FDR to close the banks leaving Americans
unsure of what tomorrow would bring. It is very easy to persuade a nation to accept monumental
changes in their way of life when there is a major crisis.

Parallel that todays environment. Government stepping in, taking on the responsibility of
the banks. A bailout using the people’s funds whether free thinking folk agree or not.
Gold and other precious metals barely rising in value. Very similar happenings shaping the
course of events. The global economy again feeling the ripple effect and the pointing of
fingers at whose at fault has begun.

The call for a globalized economy where a government controlled banking system would be the
end of free enterprise as we know it. Dreams and aspirations of the individual would all but
disappear. That is why it is crucial to join together worldwide here on the Internet. The spirit
of Entrepreneurialism, the ability to achieve success is alive and well. The last frontier for free
thinking people who long for the opportunity to create a true business with sustainable income
and growth is here. The option if one puts in the effort and works hard independtly can create
a lasting hope for the American dream. Fledgling democracies are forming everyday. This is no

Advice for setting up or up-grading your home based business:

One important consideration is having a location in your home that is dedicated to your home based business. You can use this as a tax write off, which includes a % of square footage and then divides that up for a percent of heat, lights, water, etc. but the space must be for you home based business only. So if you do not have a room, then mark out an area that is Business ONLY to keep our friendly tax person happy.

Install a phone line dedicated to your home based business.

Decide on an answering service and in most cases it is required to have a 1-800 number for someone to take you seriously.

Organize your work space with great care. Make sure that you have sufficient space to meet your needs. Have what you need within reach and an excellent filing system as well as backup system for your PC.

If needed for your type of business, when scheduling appointments with clients, consider meeting at your client’s office or renting a conference room to maintain a professional image. Or learn the new up to date technology of conferencing on the computer. It is fairly easy and not expensive if you use the right services.

Keep excellent records of entertainment and travel expenses. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) tends to audit home based businesses more frequentlyespecially when they are writing off a variety of expenses, including the percentage of the mortgage or rent for your office space.

There are several good record keepers such as Day Timer®, Franklin Quest® and Day Planner that will help you keep track of your expenses. Use of an accountant or a CPA is recommended and can advise you on deductions you can take and records you must keep for the IRS. Set up a SAVINGS ACCOUNT for your home based business, remember keep it in a business LLC account. Build it up because when you least expect it, you will need it.

Develope your computer system, proper programs and decide who will handle your repairs and help as you need it. Check out their service and if possible talk to referrals. Do NOT just trust the Big Computer Stores to be there for you. You are usually not a person to them, just a broken piece of equipment and you go into the ‘Q’. Trust me; a good computer person on your team is worth their weight in Gold. A good 2nd PC lap top that can multi task can be a life saver.

Discipline yourself. You must be a self-starter and follow a routine, just as if you were working for any other business. In many cases, you are the only person you can rely on to get the job done. Unless it’s an emergency, do not baby-sit or chat with your neighbors.

There are literally thousands of people entering into a Home Based Business due to the sagging economy, massive business layoffs, and whole industries vanishing as work moves overseas. Families are needed in the past a second income for those little extras; families now need a steady income they can count on. I strongly suggest diversification (never put all your eggs in one basket).

If you are starting a home based business opportunity, especially for the first time, here is something that you should be aware of before getting started.

The majority of all attempted home based business opportunities fail!

Why?

For most people, it is not really their fault. There is a fairly large learning curve that is involved. Most people do not have a degree in sales or marketing, talking to people on the phone, creating web sites, etc. etc. whatever, whatever! There is just so much you need to learn when you get involved with any work from home business.

Usually, their is some start up capital that is needed. Do you have the needed funds to put into your home based business? Very seldom does anyone make money when they are first beginning. This alone makes the majority of those working a business opportunity to get frustrated and give up. Did you know that if you had a brick and mortar type business, for most owners it takes at least three years to get into profit? This of course depends on the type of business and the location. If you are starting a home based business, same deal. That is the way you have to think. You should be pouring any money made back into the business to nurture it and help it grow.

Time! You need to be dedicated to your business and put in the needed hours every day for training and self growth. You also need to get into a routine as far as working your work from home business daily.

If you can do the above on a consistent basis, starting a home based business could be the most rewarding thing you have ever done. Those who can make it through the growing pains will succeed. Remember…never give up!!

Have You Ever Seen the Face of God?

I have. I am one of the lucky few. He did not show himself to me
in an image of Fire or an image of a Mighty Man. He showed himself
as the lamb. In the image of a man in a wheel chair. A man in a wheel
chair with cerebral palsy. A man left abandoned hoping that a stranger
would offer him help.

His will was strong, you could sense the fire within his soul, you could
sense his mighty power, it was only his body that had betrayed him.
He asked each person as they walked by for assistance and aid, all
ignored him, shunned him, and looked the other way. He did not waiver.
He remained steadfast.

Finally, a blessed woman stopped to listen although her friend tried
unsuccessfully to have her move on. Her dark skin glowed around her
face as if she wore a halo. She was to be his guardian angel. He told
her of his plight. He had been dropped off by an assistance vehicle
service in the wrong area. The driver did not pay attention to the
address and simply left him. He was lost and alone. This angel of a
woman, armed with her cell phone took action. He provided the number
to the service and his id code and she listened, called and demanded
they return immediately and drive him to his correct destination.

She stayed with him until he was safely on his way.

She had been tested and deemed worthy.

The scene played out before me. As I sat there, I became filled with a
sense of overwhelming peace. I said to myself “so shines a good deed
in a weary world”. I walked passed the woman and told her “God bless
you Angel”. I have been changed ever since. There is a sweet smell in
the air, the sky is bluer, the clouds are puffier and whiter, the sun shines
brighter.

See, I was meant to witness this act. I was outside in that spot for 15
minutes only never to return there for the rest of the day. A portal, a
window in time. I know now that our humanity is not lost, that it does
still exist.

Why do I share this story?

Growing up I always had the desire to be in business. And I knew what type of business it was going to be. I was an avid athlete so I planned to open my own sporting goods store. Well. the opportunity came when the owner of one of the local sport stores was getting out of the business. When I think back that should have been a warning signal to me: he was getting “out” of the business! Any ways, myself and two others decided to purchase the business. I often ask myself why I didn’t just look at some home base business ideas and go from there.

But things were different in the 1970’s. There was lots of work available and the concept of having a home base business just wasn’t the thing to do, especially when you could make some good money at one of the local industries. I was different though. I wanted to have some control over my time and my financial future. If there had only been the number of home base business ideas that there are today, maybe I would have chosen a different path. But I didn’t and for the next two years of my life I took part in what I like to call a “learning experience”. Some would call it the school of hard knocks!

Well, after putting in sixteen hour days and working almost seven days a week, I had to close the business. The sales were just not there. It just so happened that many of the large sporting goods suppliers began to sell to the large department stores around the time my partners and I bought the business. It was impossible for us to compete with their prices. Good service only goes so far and then price becomes the issue. Regardless, we closed up the business and I headed to work at the local steel plant. At this point in my life if any one had approached me with some home based business ideas I probably would have told them to get lost!

Well, guess what? I hated my job at the steel plant so much I began to look for another business. And I found one! It was a franchise for a hair salon and it was going to be the next McDonalds! Did they pitch me a line and I went for it! Well, after about eighteen months, I simply broke my contract with the franchise because they did not fulfill their promises. I stayed in business for about thirteen years and sold it. Again, it was the learning experience and I certainly learned about business. After these two ventures in the world of business one may think I was ready to give up. Well, not quite. I began to look at some home based business ideas!

The big thing now was Multi Level Marketing. Yes, good old MLM! And I jumped around in this industry for a number of years making a little money but nothing substantial. I figured my time was up as far as the world of business went. Then a good friend of mine from another part of the country contacted me. He was researching some home based business ideas and told me of a unique business model that was based on the acquisition of customers rather than the acquisition of distributors. So I decided to look into this new concept and I haven’t looked back. I finally found a home based business that has a business plan that makes sense and is made to help build a business on customers. It only makes sense because without customers you have no business. It’s unique and it works.

With a world population of 6500 million there will be plenty of new potential customers for the home based business. Thats a great market to target. With the right software program you can send your advertisements to thousands with the click of a button.

The third technology is the cell phone. Now you the home based business owner are never out of touch with your customers. Where ever you go you will be in contact. The cell phone providers are adding new services every day as the internet, computer and cell phone service merge. Surfing the internet, receiving and sending emails to your customers means that your business never shuts down, it is working 24 hours a day seven days a week. Wherever you go your business is working and you have the ability to be in contact with your customers.
