MLM and Networking companies are very viable forms of business and have made many hard working entrepreneurs quite wealthy, but it has made many more a stable and profitable income with their home based business. Some have chosen a limited part time path for some extra spending money and a vast number have lost their shirt due to greed (thinking they can make millions by doing almost nothing), thinking their business was a get quick rich plan. Some lost everything due to poor planning and lack of consistent and coordinated business plan or even lack of knowledge on how to do the needed tasks to make money online. Anything that makes claims of extreme incomes fast with very little work involved.
Flyers stuck under your windshield of promising a successful home based businesse, that should be RED flags.
Is the emphasis on hiring more reps or on sales of products and services? If Reps are the big pressure then it is a sign of a SCAM.
Is this a startup company with grand plans for success but no track records?
Do they offer many training sessions that you pay for, specializing in raw raw raw and prancing the latest success story? A convention once a year would be considered normal for a strong company.
Are you paid on recruiting people but not on movement of product? Actually that is a Pyramid and is illegal.
Are you being asked to invest in buying large amounts of your companys products? Let the company carry the product and do the shipping.
Are you being strongly encouraged to purchase lots of books, CDs, DVDs, brochures and other company marketing and training materials? Many companies make a huge profit selling motivational supplies and materials, including web sites.
With offers of outrageous claims about miracle products, be skeptical. There are many and most medical advances have come about through years of study, not overnight successes. But in fairness when you are moving to holistic healing rather than standard medical care, you will find many natural products that do the same if not better than some medications. Always consult with your physician or naturopath.
Unfortunately home based business scams have happened for years taking the money; billions of dollars for their own profit, not the Reps. Do your research by watching for warning signs. Do not disengage brain as some people work on such a high energy, urgent feeling, of sign up now or all will be lost, trust your instincts. Does this really feel comfortable? Does the person answering your question feel like someone you want on your personal team?
You are ready to research having your own home based business to make money online? Smart idea, as the benefits are many. Such as huge tax benefit, what I call the 2 minute commute, having a measure of control over how much you earn, what hours and days you work and building residual income, to name a few. But how do you wade your way through the scams and watch out for the filim flam man?
When researching a company I like to see a proven track record, a clear training plan that is up to date with todays technologies, excellent products, 100% guarantees, a program that supports the concept of TEAM not competing against each other. To make money online with a home based business you will find a much higher success ratio when working with a TEAM.

Your home based business opportunity just may have the answer to someones problem and if you can provide quality content to your site on a regular basis describing your home based business and its benefits to others, you will begin to get traffic.
3. Offer a free online directory. The directory could be full of interesting ebooks, ezines, web sites etc. If people find your directory to be a valuable resource they will visit it over and over. People love it when someone else does their research for them. Make sure you update the directory on a regular basis, and give visitors the option to subscribe to be notified when there are updates.
4. Give your visitors a free ebook. You could also include your own ad in the ebook and allow other people to give it away. If you don't want to take the time to write one, you could ask other writers permission to use their articles, or you can hire ghost writers at websites like elance.com.
5. Hold free online classes or seminars. They could be held in your web site's chat room. The idea of "live" information will definitely entice people to visit your web site. 6. Give visitors a free entry into your contest or sweepstakes. The prizes should be something of interest or value to your visitors.
